SHARED BOYS’ ROOM

About the project…

Once I heard what this client had in mind for her boys’ shared room, I couldn’t wait to dig in. She has three sons who rotate sharing rooms (I know. She’s got the parenting thing dialed in!), so she needed a space that could be easily customized when her boys change rooms every couple of years.

As you can see from the before photo (bottom right), the space had great bones to begin with. White bedding, black iron beds & a nightstand that was already working really well. I added warmth, texture & dimension with art and textiles. The current rug had a tendency to bunch up, so I replaced it with a flat-weave runner that added some pattern. The wall-mounted sport ball displays are easily switchable depending on who is currently sharing the room & the black and white photo gallery is another easy switch when the time comes. A leather pouf chair adds a masculine touch that keeps the room from feeling too juvenile.

I’m confident it’s a room that will grow with the boys and easy switches can be made along the way as they alternate rooms.
